Sentence structure.

 Sentence structure.

The subject, verb, and object are three essential parts  that form the foundation of clear and effective sentence. Understanding how each element functions helps writers create grammatically correct sentences and communicate ideas more precisely.

The subject

The subject of a sentence identifies who or what the sentence is about. It is usually a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase.

   The children played outside.

The verb

The verb expresses the action or state of being. It tells what the subject does or what condition it is in..Without a verb, a sentence cannot express a complete thought.

                        They read books.

 The object

The object receives the action of the verb. There are two main types of objects:

  • The direct object - which answers the question what? or whom?, and
  •  The indirect object- which tells to whom, for whom, or for what the action is performed.

                              I eat rice

Together, the subject, verb, and object create a clear and logical structure known as S-V-O order, which is the most common pattern in English.By understanding how these elements interact, learners can build more precise and expressive communication in both speech and writing.
